The IndiGo flight from Kanpur was ready to fly and all 140 passengers had boarded but was still delayed by nearly three hours. Reason? One of the passengers spotted a rat on the IndiGo flight and informed the staff. To ensure everyone’s safety, the airline then decided to evacuate the passengers. Initially, scheduled to fly at 2:55 PM, the flight finally took off from the Kanpur airport at 6:03 PM and landed in Delhi at 7:16 PM.

As per the Hindustan Times report, Kanpur airport media in-charge Vivek Singh confirmed the incident. He revealed that passengers were evacuated due to safety reasons. After everyone got off, the airline staff began a thorough search to find the rat. The search went on for about one and a half hours. Later, ensuring there was no rat on the aircraft, the airline allowed passengers to board the flight.

Another Safety Scare In Flight

Before the rat scare on flight, another IndiGo flight witnessed a safety scare recently. Last week, IndiGo flight 6E 1089 from Mumbai to Phuket had to make an emergency landing in Chennai following a bomb threat. Security forces, including CISF personnel, were called to check the plane after landing, reported Hindustan Times.

The airline has always maintained a safety-first stance for its passengers and staff. During both incidents, they ensured the passengers were comfortable and offered refreshments and other arrangements. Though the delay in the flight schedule caused frustration among the passengers, IndiGo stated that they will continue to prioritise customer safety over schedules.
