Starting At ₹150, Indian Railways Introduces Sleeping Pods At Guntur Station; Details Inside

Indian Railways continues to introduce new facilities to improve passenger comfort, whether during journeys or while waiting at stations. You will be interested to know that the authorities have now introduced sleeping pod facilities at Guntur Railway Station in Andhra Pradesh. The facility comes with 64 beds, Wi-Fi, and several other amenities. Here’s everything you need to know.

The Ministry of Railways recently took to its official X account to share images of the newly introduced sleeping pods. The facility has been set up at Guntur Railway Station in Andhra Pradesh to offer safe and affordable short-stay accommodation for passengers, including families and women. Photos shared on X showed clean and well-furnished pods, with beds covered in fresh bedsheets. 

As per a report by The Financial Express, the facility has been developed as part of the Railways’ non-fare revenue initiatives. The sleeper pods are located at Platform No. 1, near Gate No. 3. Passengers in transit can rest safely at these accommodations during their journey. According to South Central Railway, the pods will be convenient for passengers waiting for connecting trains.

Wi-Fi, Hot Water Supply & More 

According to The Financial Express, similar sleeper pod facilities are already operational at Visakhapatnam Railway Station and Charlapalli Railway Station. The sleeper pod facility at Guntur Railway Station has a total of 64 beds, including 52 single beds and 12 double beds. The pods are equipped with several amenities for passenger comfort. These include free Wi-Fi, hot water supply, a snack bar, a work desk, clean washrooms, and locker facilities. 

And don’t worry about the cleanliness because the pods are super hygienic. Tariffs for the sleeper pods have been fixed at affordable rates. Here are the prices: 

• Single beds: ₹150 for up to three hours; ₹300 for stays between three and 24 hours. 
• Double beds: ₹250 for up to three hours; ₹500 for stays between three and 24 hours.
• Rooms are available at ₹300 for up to three hours and ₹1000 for stays extending beyond 24 hours.
