Major Routes Blocked Due To Incessant Rainfall
As per a report by India TV, the Vaishno Devi Yatra was earlier suspended on August 26, 2025, after incessant rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir. Moreover, the downpour triggered a major landslide on the yatra route near Adhkuwari. Unfortunately, the incident claimed the lives of 34 people and left 20 others injured. A three-member high-level committee was later constituted to investigate the tragedy.
As per a report by Business Standard, the rainfall has also blocked many tracks leading to the shrine. Meanwhile, the Jammu-Srinagar Highway remains disrupted at several points due to road damage, which has further complicated connectivity. The prolonged suspension has disappointed devotees and is also expected to hit local businesses that depend on the yatra.
