FSSAI Is Testing An AI Tool For Food Safety
Food safety issues are on the rise and to avoid these problems for public health, India’s food safety regulator, FSSAI, is planning something big. According to Moneycontrol, they are testing an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based tool that could automatically flag violations on e-commerce platforms amid rising scrutiny of online food sales, dark stores and cloud kitchens.
FSSAI is collaborating with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to plan this new AI system. But the plan is still in its initial stages, and the tool is currently being tested. The system will automatically inform the authorities of any food safety violation on e-commerce platforms. This will, in turn, allow officials to take quick action.

Online Food Platforms Face More Food Safety Checks
These days, online food delivery and quick-commerce platforms have expanded their footprint in markets across India. This has created a large universe of sellers, dark stores and cloud kitchens. To keep an eye on hygiene, authorities have decided to test this new system.
According to Moneycontrol, FSSAI has also made it quite clear that e-commerce companies are equally responsible for the products sold on their platforms. If there is any issue with the item, they absolutely cannot shift the entire responsibility to the manufacturer. Plus, the information available to the consumer on the physical label of the product should be mentioned on the e-commerce platform as well.
You would also like to know that the state food safety authorities are also stepping up inspections at dark stores and cloud kitchens, including checks on refrigeration, cleanliness and hygiene standards.
