An Air India flight AI137 from Delhi to Milan was cancelled on Tuesday. A technical issue was detected in its Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft just before take-off. Alternative flights were arranged to Milan to minimise inconvenience.
Air India Delhi-Milan Flight Cancelled Just Before Take-Off
In recent weeks, many Air India flights have been facing disruptions due to various reasons. Something similar happened on Tuesday when a scheduled flight from Delhi to Milan was cancelled just before take-off. As per a report by The Times of India, flight AI137, operated by a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, was called off due to a technical issue detected during its mandatory pre-departure checks.
The flight was expected to take off at 1:50 pm from Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport. Just minutes before the scheduled departure, the crew discovered a fault that made it unsafe to proceed with the flight. The airline decided to cancel it immediately. The ground crew at the airport made alternative arrangements to fly the stranded passengers to Milan.

Airline Issues Apology, Offers Refunds And Rescheduling
As per the same report, Air India also issued a statement apologising for the inconvenience. Apart from arranging alternative flights, they offered full refunds or free rescheduling depending on what the passengers preferred. Moreover, the airline arranged hotel accommodations for those who had to stay back due to the delay.
The number of passengers onboard was not disclosed. In recent days, Air India has cancelled and delayed multiple flights due to aircraft-related technical issues. These repeated incidents have caused problems for flyers. However, the airline has been working to manage such situations by offering refunds and alternatives. Reportedly, the issue was detected at the last minute, which led to the flight being aborted immediately.

Though the cancellation caused inconvenience, Air India’s response helped minimise some of the hassle for travellers. Moreover, the airline has also maintained that the safety of passengers will always remain its top priority.
