An American woman has now compared the healthcare systems of India and the US, and her video on social media has sparked a debate among netizens. Through an Instagram reel, she shared her honest review of doctors, hospitals, medicine, cost, and the overall healthcare systems in both countries. Here’s what people are saying.
American Creator Compares Indian & US Healthcare Systems
Kristen Fischer, who goes by her Instagram handle @kristenfischer3, is an American woman currently living in India. She recently uploaded a reel comparing healthcare systems in India and the US.
Her first point of comparison was appointments. She chose India, saying patients can easily walk in to see doctors, unlike in the US, where it is harder to get quick appointments. Next, she compared the system based on the availability of doctors and the time spent with them, and again, she picked India.
However, for food options in hospitals, she preferred the US, as patients there are usually allowed to order their own meals. On the most important factor, ‘cost’, she chose India, calling it far more “affordable”. For the overall hospital experience, she leaned towards the US, saying, “The overall experience in the US is better, but it comes at a cost.” She also asked her followers to share their own experiences.

Netizens React With Mixed Opinions
Her reel, which has now gone viral, triggered a debate in the comments. Many users questioned how the US could guarantee a better overall experience when India had scored higher on most points. One user wrote, “Confused why overall experience is better in the USA if you have to wait so long to get an appointment, only to have doctors not give you enough attention and time”.
While another disagreed with her comparison, commenting, “We don’t go to the hospital for a food menu order or 5-star experience”. The user also added that they go to the hospital for treatment, for which “India is definitely best.”
At the same time, several Instagram users applauded her for being fair and honest in her assessment. Some pointed out that hospital food is usually given based on medical requirements, which is why outside food may not always be allowed in India.
Clearly, this American creator’s comparison has sparked a serious debate online. So, what do you think? Would you prefer Indian healthcare or US healthcare? Let us know!
