Amitabh Bachchan Builds Bathroom For KBC Contestant
In 2024, during an episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati, contestant Jayanta Duley from the small village of Agai in Goghat, Hooghly district, West Bengal, shared an emotional story. While talking to Amitabh Bachchan, he revealed that the entire village didn’t have a bathroom, which forced women to bathe in the village pond. Seeing his mother and sister bathe openly, the contestant felt uncomfortable and wanted to build a bathroom for them. Following his revelation, the Bollywood actor promised that he would help him with this. He said, “Regardless of the outcome of this game, I will ensure a bathroom is built at your home, at my own expense.”
Now, Amitabh Bachchan has fulfilled his promise. The Times of India reported that the new washroom, now built at Duley’s home, features an engraved message that reads, “Gifted by Mr Amitabh Bachchan.” The gesture has brought immense relief to the women in the family. Jayanta’s 22-year-old sister, Shikha, expressed deep gratitude, saying that for years, it was embarrassing to bathe in public. She said, “I’ve completed my master’s in Bengali from Burdwan University and am waiting for admission in a D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education) course. It was very embarrassing for a woman my age to bathe in the village pond.”
Actor Keeps His Promise
To build the bathroom, Amitabh Bachchan sent ₹2 lakh to Jayanta Duley. The former KBC contestant had earlier won ₹12.5 lakh from the reality game show. In talks with The Times of India, Duley said, “Meeting Amitabh Bachchan was my dream, and it’s come true. What he’s done for our family feels unreal.” Their father, Bhadu Duley, also thanked the actor for his kindness.
We loved how the actor kept his promise and helped the KBC contestant. His gesture truly serves as an inspiration and encouragement for many.
