Flash Floods Trigger Massive Road Closures Across The State
Extreme rainfall and cloudbursts have also triggered major damage in East Siang and Leparada districts, seriously affecting road access. According to district officials, nine major roads have been blocked or washed away. Out of the 11 major routes being inspected, only the Terong-Korong-Mebo Road and the JNC Lower Campus to Upper Campus Road have been opened again for the public.
Several important routes, including Pasighat-Pangin, Mariyang-Yingkiong and Mebo-Dambuk-Bomjir, remain entirely shut due to landslides and flooding. The local roads near Balek Secondary School, Ranaghat Bridge, the Poglek River crossing and Bilat-Ledum Road have also been impacted.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted over 200 mm of rainfall in the state and urged people to avoid non-essential travel. A separate advisory from the Pasighat Highway Division has warned of severe blockages between Rengging and Yembung on NH-13 due to rockfalls and landslips. While debris clearance is in progress, continuous rainfall continues to hamper restoration work. Officials have advised commuters to travel only during daylight hours and avoid parking or stopping near landslide-prone stretches.
We hope the situation calms down soon.
