As per a report by India Today, the IMD issued a red alert that is valid for three hours, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, intense to very heavy rainfall, and winds of 40-60 km/h. The alert level was lowered to an orange alert at 7 am for the next three hours, with mild to extreme spells of rain expected for Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Palghar and Sindhudurg.
