Monsoon in Mumbai is finally here, and the city woke up to extreme rainfall on a Wednesday morning. With heavy rain expected to continue to fall across parts of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) declared a red alert for Mumbai and Palghar at 4 am. Mumbai Weather Today: Waterlogging In Various Parts

As per a report by India Today, the IMD issued a red alert that is valid for three hours, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, intense to very heavy rainfall, and winds of 40-60 km/h. The alert level was lowered to an orange alert at 7 am for the next three hours, with mild to extreme spells of rain expected for Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Palghar and Sindhudurg.

Not only this, other parts of Mumbai, like King’s Circle in the Matunga area, showed trucks and other vehicles wading through waterlogged roads. Viral visuals from early Wednesday morning showed waterlogging in the areas around Andheri, Dadar and Kurla.

The monsoon reached Mumbai on Tuesday, 13 days post its normal arrival date, providing relief from the extreme heat. As per the reports, the India Meteorological Department stated that the southwest monsoon has further moved into the rest of the parts of the central Arabian Sea and other parts of Maharashtra, including Mumbai.
