The Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) is now planning to launch mobile food vans called “Mayura Ruchi on Wheels” at different tourist spots in the state. These vans aim to provide tasty and affordable food to people visiting these spots. Here’s everything we know so far about the initiative.
KSTDC To Launch Food Vans At Tourist Spots In Karnataka
Food vans, also called food trucks, are large vehicles equipped with a small kitchen inside. These vehicles are used to cook and sell food directly to customers on the street and work as a mobile restaurant. Karnataka is all set to get these mobile food vans at different tourist spots in the state. According to Deccan Herald, KSTDC will launch “Mayura Ruchi on Wheels”, its first mobile food service, very soon.
In the first phase, these food vans will serve clean, quality and tasty food to tourists at major destinations in the state, including Hampi, Madikeri, Jog Falls, Mysuru, Nandi Hills and several tourist spots in Bengaluru. The initiative aims to take the food experience of KSTDC’s Mayura Hotels beyond the hotels’ walls and closer to locations that receive high footfall.

Food Vans To Serve Karnataka’s Regional Specialities
According to Deccan Herald, KSTDC currently operates 24 Mayura Hotels. Many of these are located at a distance from the main visitor zones, and these food vans aim to bridge the gap. The “Mayura Ruchi on Wheels” will serve pizzas, burgers, idli, vada, breakfast items, snacks, meals and even selected regional specialities from different parts of Karnataka to showcase the state’s diverse culinary traditions.
We think this is an amazing idea. These food vans can easily park right where people gather at tourist spots, so visitors can easily buy food on the go. Moreover, food vans have lower running costs compared to a standard restaurant, making the meals pocket-friendly.
