Arunachal Pradesh Snowfall Alert: Police Releases Travel Advisory For Mayodia Pass

In a recent turn of events, the police of the Lower Dibang Valley district have issued a public advisory in view of ongoing snowfall at Mayodia and the rise in vehicle movements towards the famous tourist spot. Read on to know more about the advisory.

What Is Happening In Dibang Valley District?

The Lower Dibang Valley district of Arunachal Pradesh is one of the most picturesque areas in the state. Recently, with the ongoing snowfall in the region, the police department of the district has released an advisory requesting citizens to stay safe. In the advisory dated February 16, 2026, the superintendent of police, IPS Manisha Shaurya, cautioned and stated that only experienced drivers familiar with hilly and snow-bound terrain should be travelling towards Mayodia. Inexperienced drivers are advised to avoid the route to prevent any traffic disruptions and accidents.

Not only this, but the police have directed two-wheeler drivers to ensure that their vehicles are in proper mechanical condition with enough fuel, functional brakes and good tyre grip and also told them to carry all the essential safety equipment before setting out. Both visitors and tourists have been strictly advised not to park vehicles along the road to enjoy snowfall, as such an act can lead to traffic and hamper emergency operations.

What Does The Advisory Say?

All drivers have been instructed to adhere strictly to rules and traffic regulations, avoid overspeeding, maintain safe distances between vehicles and not indulge in rash driving. The advisory also states that one should not create congestion at narrow stretches or other weak areas along the route. The advisory urges the public to follow directions issued by traffic police deployed in the area.

As per India Today, the district police have requested the public to cooperate with the administration to ensure smooth movement during the snowfall period, stating that the advisory has been issued in the interest of public safety.
