Well, if you are someone who is planning a visit to the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati and is totally dependent on offline bookings, then it’s sad news for you all. The temple is all set to close the offline booking method and solely depend on the online method. Read on to know what exactly it is.
Kamakhya Temple To Close Offline Bookings
As per a report by Guwahati Plus, the Kamakhya Devalaya Management Committee has decided that it will discontinue offline Special Darshan ticket bookings from June 15. Going ahead, pilgrims will have to book Special Darshan tickets only online via the temple’s official portal.
According to a public notice released by the temple authorities, the decision was made in regard to the increasing number of devotees visiting the temple every day. The shift is intended to simplify the darshan process and reduce congestion at ticket counters.

The newly enhanced online portal for Special Darshan bookings will open to the public from June 15 at 6 PM. Devotees can book their slots through the official website and get a digital pass for a few visits. Temple authorities have also urged devotees to avoid depending on offline counters and finish their bookings online instead.
Why Is Kamakhya Temple Very Prominent?
Located atop Nilachal Hill in Guwahati, Kamakhya Temple is one of India’s most sacred Shakti Peethas that attracts approx lakhs of devotees every year. With the Ambubachi Mela Festival set to start later this month, the move to online bookings is planned to help manage the large crowd of tourists more effectively.
The temple management team has also stated that the online Special Darshan facility is intended only for visiting devotees and pilgrims. Bookings made by temple staff, residents of Nilachal Hill, pandas, or other parties connected with the temple will be cancelled and will not be permitted.
