Hyderabad Man Compares Restaurant Bill With Swiggy Prices

Food delivery apps have made our lives easier. We can order our favourite meals, desserts and drinks by simply tapping on our mobile screen. But online food delivery does come with a cost of convenience. A man (@idlebrainjeevi) recently went to a restaurant called Panchakattu Dosa in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad.

According to the bill shared by him on X, he had ordered a Neyyi Karam Onion Dosa, Neyyi Pongal and a Special Filter Coffee. He had paid ₹230 for the whole meal, including taxes. But curiosity led him to check the prices of these same items on Swiggy, and what he found surprised him. The order total for the same three items came to ₹436! He wrote, “Difference between visiting the outlet and using Swiggy,” as the caption of the post.

Price Difference Sparks Online Debate

The huge difference between the two totals for the same food items sparked a debate on social media regarding online food delivery. One user wrote, “Life was so much better before Swiggy and Zomato, ” and “Forget about the price, even the quality and quantity of the order on these platforms are compromised.”

Another user called it the “cost of convenience” and explained that many restaurants pay Swiggy 25-30% commission on every order, which is why they raise their menu prices on the app. One user also talked about how they had “Stopped ordering through apps a long time back!”
