But now, tourist safety at this beautiful destination is all set to get an upgrade as the state plans to roll out ‘Green Marshals’ to aid women’s safety at tourist spots. Kerala Plans To Roll Out Green Marshals At Tourist Spots
Kerala is a place known for its laid-back vibe, cafes, art, heritage and, of course, its backwaters. Many solo travellers visit the place to step away from their busy lives for a relaxing retreat. Moreover, the locals here are welcoming and accustomed to solo travellers. According to The New Indian Express, Kerala is now planning to boost its tourist safety even more. The state is planning to roll out the ‘Green Marshal’ initiative on October 9, 2026.
The move aims to monitor tourist destinations and promptly respond to the problems faced by visitors. Reportedly, the concerned department will initially deploy Green Marshals at select tourist spots only. These marshals will keep an eye on cleanliness, destination upkeep, waste management, visitor assistance, safety and environmental protection.

Initiative Focuses On Tourist Safety And Destination Maintenance
Tourism Minister P C Vishnunadh shared with The New Indian Express that this new initiative will monitor tourist destinations on a day-to-day basis. Plus, it also aims to provide protection and support for tourists. The initiative not only focuses on protection but also on maintenance. Kerala wants to keep its tourist sites clean and in order.
Kerala sees a lot of solo travellers, especially women, and the state wants to ensure that they feel safe and secure on their holidays. The candidates selected to become Green Marshals will undergo proper training that covers not just environmental and destination management responsibilities but will also train them on how to interact with tourists.
