When Is Bada Mangal 2026?

This year, the month of Jyeshtha will begin on May 2, 2026 and continue until June 29, 2026. Why? As per MSN, an extra lunar month is added. Because of this, Hindu devotees will get more days to perform prayers and follow rituals. During this extended month, there will be eight Tuesdays. All these Tuesdays in 2026 will be observed as Bada Mangal or Budhwa Mangal. This is considered a rare occurrence and is happening after many years, making it even more special for devotees.

The eight Bada Mangal dates in 2026 are May 5, May 12, May 19, May 26, June 2, June 9, June 16, and June 23. These Tuesdays are especially dedicated to the worship of Lord Hanuman. Devotees believe that praying to Hanuman on these days brings strength, protection, and relief from problems.

Important Rituals To Follow

In cities like Lucknow, Bada Mangal is celebrated with great enthusiasm. MSN reported that during this time, food stalls called bhandaras are set up across the city. These stalls serve free food and drinks to everyone. On these days, devotees visit Hanuman temples, recite the Hanuman Chalisa and Sundarkand, and pray with full faith and devotion.

There are several traditional beliefs connected to this celebration. One belief says that Lord Hanuman met Lord Ram during this sacred time, which is why the month is considered very auspicious. Another story comes from the Mahabharata. It is believed that Bhima once met Hanuman, who appeared in the form of an old monkey. Hanuman then showed Bhima that true strength has limits and gently humbled him.
