Passengers on a Kolkata-bound Air India Express flight experienced a mid-air scare. The flight that took off from Bengaluru, had to return shortly after departure due to a technical issue. The incident has once again raised concerns about the aviation industry.
Air India Express Bengaluru-Kolkata Faces Mid-Air Technical Glitch
An Air India Express flight from Bengaluru to Kolkata was forced to make an emergency landing shortly after take-off. As per a report by Republic World, the flight IX 2718 took off from Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) at 7:16 pm on Sunday, 11 minutes behind schedule. It reported a mid-air hydraulic failure shortly after departure.
Hydraulic failure in an aircraft generally refers to the failure or loss of the hydraulic systems, which are considered crucial for controlling landing gears, brakes, and flight controls. According to the airline, a full emergency was declared at 8:21 pm as a precautionary measure. Officials were prepared for any impact during landing. However, no passengers were harmed, and all necessary protocols were followed before making the emergency landing back at Bengaluru Airport at 9:19 pm.

Aircraft Circles To Burn Fuel Before Emergency Landing
As per a report by Times Now, the aircraft circled to reduce fuel and weight before making a safe landing at the airport. Not only that, but a full emergency response was in place. An alternative aircraft was also arranged by Air India Express to minimise the inconvenience caused to the passengers.
The swift response of the crew and airport authorities helped avert a disaster. The prompt action taken by them ensured the situation was brought under control and the plane was landed safely. However, the incident has shed light on the importance of strict safety protocols in the aviation industry.
