The Yellow Line of Bengaluru Metro sees a heavy rush on a daily basis. To ease crowding, the authorities are expanding services. From January 15, an additional train will start running to reduce rush-hour congestion and shorten waiting times. Namma Metro has also launched mobile QR code-based unlimited travel passes. Bengaluru Metro Yellow Line To Run An Additional Train
From January 15, an additional train will operate on the RV Road-Bommasandra route from 6 am on the Namma Metro Yellow Line. According to a report by News18, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited has added this seventh train to bring relief to thousands of daily commuters who depend on this route.
At present, trains on the Yellow Line run at an interval of 13 minutes on weekdays. With the addition of the new train, the waiting time will be reduced to 10 minutes. This will help passengers move faster through stations and reduce crowding on platforms during peak hours. This move comes amid a steady rise in ridership on the Yellow Line, which connects key residential and work hubs between RV Road and Bommasandra.

Mobile QR-Based Unlimited Metro Passes Launched
According to a report by Oneindia, the new train is a driverless metro that arrived in Bengaluru in December 2025. After multiple technical checks and trial runs, it has now entered commercial service. Along with the additional train, Namma Metro has rolled out mobile QR-based unlimited travel passes from today, January 15. These passes are available for one, three, and five days. They allow unlimited metro travel during the validity period.
Unlike earlier systems, these passes do not require a ₹50 security deposit. Commuters can simply scan the QR code on their mobile pass at the entry gates. Here are the pass prices:
- One-Day Pass: ₹250
- Three-Day Pass: ₹550
- Five-Day Pass: ₹850
This new system aims to make metro commuting faster, smoother, and more user-friendly.
