From being called a “heritage site” to having been hilariously listed on Google as a “historical landmark”, to say Bengaluru’s Ejipura flyover has been the butt of jokes is an understatement. Due to the delay in its construction, what started as frustration from residents over the years has turned into amusement. On Friday, Chief Commissioner for the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), Maheshwar Rao, stated that the Ejipura flyover could be completed by June-July 2026. Here’s more on this.
Ejipura Flyover In Bengaluru To Open In 2026??
As per a report by The Indian Express, the much-delayed Ejipura flyover project in south Bengaluru is expected to be completed by June-July 2026. The GBA Chief Commissioner attended an event organised by the Bengaluru Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the Indian Institute of Interior Designers. During this event, he spoke about the flyover work. He revealed that work on the Ejipura flyover has resumed and is progressing well. Moreover, he added that they hope the work on the flyover will be complete by June 2026.
Earlier, the officer indicated that the flyover would be opened to the public in March 2026. Later on, the target was shifted to a more realistic date— June 2026. This flyover is essentially a 2.38-km elevated corridor with entry/exit points on Koramangala Kendriya Sadan near the Hosur Road Junction and Inner Ring Road. Authorities are building the flyover to streamline the heavy traffic flow between Koramangala and Inner Ring Road to the National Highway on Hosur Road.

Under Construction Since 2017
The route where the Ejipura flyover sits is mainly used by IT workers and other professionals from East Bengaluru. They travel on this route to reach their workplaces, like Electronic City in south-east Bengaluru, where major tech companies reside. The work on this flyover began in 2017. It was later stalled for years. This has once again picked up. From land acquisition to logistics to workforce levels, many reasons have been given to account for the delay.
Bengalureans await the opening of the Ejipura flyover next year (hopefully without further delays).
