Madhya Pradesh is famously known as the “Land of Tigers” and is one of the most popular places for tiger safaris to spot the majestic big cats. But now, the state is all set to expand its wildlife tourism by introducing dolphin and vulture safaris. Here’s what you need to know.
Madhya Pradesh Plans To Expand Its Wildlife Tourism
Madhya Pradesh is home to some of the most iconic tiger reserves in India, including Bandhavgarh, Kanha, Pench, Panna and Satpura. But the state now has some more amazing plans for wildlife lovers. According to The Times of India, Madhya Pradesh is planning to expand its eco-tourism beyond tigers by introducing dolphin and vulture safaris.
Reportedly, Union Tourism Secretary Bhuvnesh Kumar believes that wildlife tourism must go beyond conventional jungle safari experiences. Though the plan is still in its initial stages, if everything goes as planned, people will be able to visit Chambal for dolphin sightings and explore the biodiversity of the Gandhi Sagar region.
The visitors may also be able to take part in vulture conservation activities and even enjoy full-moon boat rides near vulture breeding grounds. These experiences can help wildlife lovers understand ecosystems rather than observing just individual animals, like tigers.

They are now looking for experiences that offer more than just wildlife. Destinations such as Kanha, Bandhavgarh, Pench, Satpura and Panna can become models of community-centred tourism through homestays. These places can also offer local cuisine, showcase handicrafts and more. This initiative is also expected to generate jobs for locals.
