In India, several airports and railway stations are being renamed. Now, Noida International Airport in Uttar Pradesh has joined the list. The state government has officially approved the proposal to rename the airport. Scroll down to learn all the details! 

Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Approves New Name For Noida Airport

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced the new name of Noida International Airport on Friday, October 9. According to NDTV report, the airport will now be known as Narendra Modi International Airport. While speaking to the media, Adityanath said the airport was a major gift to Uttar Pradesh by Narendra Modi. 

He also said it is expected to become the state’s largest airport and an important aviation hub in the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially inaugurated the new airport on March 28, 2026. However, the airport began its operations from June 15, 2026, when first flight landed from Lucknow. This airport is developed by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited. For now, only first phase of the airport has been launched. Built at the cost of ₹11,282 crore, it is expected to handle 1.2 passengers every year.

Road, Metro & Infrastructure Development In Uttar Pradesh

Yogi Adityanath also spoke about major infrastructure developments across Uttar Pradesh. As per News18 report, these development projects include highways, rail connectivity, freight corridors, and metro services . The state has planned 42 national highways worth ₹60,000 crores.

The state is also expanding its metro network in Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Noida and Greater Noida. Adityanath also mentioned many transport and industrial projects across the state. He mentioned Dadri as a major point that connects the Eastern and Western Dedicated Freight Corridors, which are railway routes used to transport goods.
