Maharashtra Government Identifies Illegal Vehicles

The Maharashtra government approved bike taxis after dealing with issues with illegal bike taxi operators in the city for years. The unlicensed vehicles in the city compromise passenger safety, according to Times Now. To solve this issue, the authorities did a surprise inspection and, as a result, identified and stopped about 123 illegal vehicles, which included 78 bikes operating as taxis.

Following the recent decision, the authorities have also made it clear that passengers’ safety should be the top priority. Drivers must have proper permits, a valid commercial driving license, a PSV badge, and no criminal record. Drivers aged between 20 and 50 should have police verification and should also be familiar with local roads.
