Tensions in Mumbai increased after police received a bomb threat call on Sunday that targeted two well-known sites: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and Nair Hospital. Immediately, security was stepped up, and Bomb Disposal Squad teams rushed to both sites to inspect for any suspicious devices. Thankfully, after thorough searches, no explosives were found, and authorities confirmed that the call was a hoax.

Bomb Threats At Mumbai Airport And Nair Hospital

When police received a bomb threat call, they immediately increased security at Mumbai Airport and Nair Hospital. Authorities later verified that the call was a hoax, and no explosives were found, India Today reported. However, the search for the caller continues. The incident occurred at a time when the Mumbai Police had been receiving multiple threat calls and messages in recent months.

Just a day before, on Saturday, Mumbai Police had already acted on another serious threat. Ashwin Kumar Supra from Noida was arrested for sending a chilling WhatsApp message claiming serial blasts in Mumbai. According to India Today reports, human bombs had been placed in 34 vehicles, and 14 Pakistani terrorists of Lashkar-e-Jihadi had entered India with 400 kg of RDX. While police later confirmed this was also a hoax, it created a wave of fear across the city.

During the Ganesh Visarjan processions, which see lakhs of devotees on the streets, the city remained on high alert. Over 21,000 personnel, including police and security teams, were deployed to ensure safety. For the first time, AI-based tools were used to monitor traffic and update routes in real time, helping manage the massive crowds.

Supra was tracked down by a special team formed by Noida Police Chief Laxmi Singh, India Today reported. The SWAT team arrested him in Sector 113, Noida, and he was handed over to the Mumbai Police, who also seized the mobile phone and SIM card used to send the threatening message.

Authorities have appealed to citizens to stay calm, avoid spreading rumours, and report any suspicious activity immediately. “Mumbai is prepared, but public cooperation is very important,” said police officials.

Despite the bomb scare, the city’s security, technology, and alertness kept millions safe.
