Chamoli Train Crash
The accident happened inside the Pipalkoti tunnel when two loco trains crashed. As per India.Com, one train was carrying workers, while the other was transporting construction materials. According to Chamoli District Magistrate Gaurav Kumar, the collision in Uttarakhand took place late in the evening. At the time of the accident, 109 people were travelling on the train, most of them were project workers.
Rescue teams reached the spot soon after the collision. Officials confirmed that all injured people were safely rescued from the tunnel. Authorities also stated that the condition of all injured individuals is stable.

Injured People Admitted To Hospital
As per information shared by the district administration, loco trains are regularly used inside long tunnels at hydroelectric project sites. These trains help move workers, engineers, and construction materials during ongoing work. Both trains were moving inside the tunnel when the collision occurred.
India.Com reported that Chamoli Superintendent of Police Surjeet Singh provided details about the injured. He said that 42 people were admitted to the district hospital. Out of these, four to five people suffered fractures. Another 17 injured people were admitted to Vivekananda Hospital in Pipalkoti. Police teams and administrative officials remain present at both hospitals to monitor the situation and assist the injured. Doctors are treating the injured, and medical teams are keeping them under observation. Hospital authorities said that no critical cases have been reported so far.
The Vishnugad–Pipalkoti Hydroelectric project is a major power project in Uttarakhand. It is being built on the Alaknanda River between Helang and Pipalkoti in Chamoli district. Once completed, the project will generate 444 megawatts of electricity. It will use four turbines, each with a capacity of 111 megawatts. Officials expect the project to be completed by next year.
