1. Chennai’s Madhavaram Lake To Offer Jet Ski

This is definitely good news to start with. According to The Times of India, Madhavaram Lake in Chennai is all set to become the first renovated waterbody in the city. It will offer jet ski facilities for thrill-seekers. The Greater Chennai Corporation is developing it as a recreational hub to attract tourists to North Chennai.

2. Southern Railways Makes OTP Mandatory on 35 Trains

Next up, Southern Railways has made Tatkal bookings more secure. OTP verification is now mandatory on 35 originating trains. This step ensures greater transparency and fairness in Tatkal ticket bookings. Furthermore, passengers should keep their registered mobile numbers active while booking for the tickets. 

3. FSSAI Warns Against Calling Herbal Infusions ‘Tea’

According to a report by The Hindu, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued a strict warning to food business operators. Herbal drinks or plant-based drinks cannot be labelled as ‘tea’. Only drinks containing Camellia Sinensis are allowed to use the term on packaging. So next time you grab your tea, check the label carefully.

4. Bengaluru Airport Extends Taxi Pickup Time

New pickup rules are now enforced at Kempegowda International Airport, Terminal 1. As per Deccan Herald, the free wait time for taxis is now 15 minutes. After this, drivers will be charged ₹100 for a half-hour slot and ₹50 for every additional hour.

5. Navi Mumbai Airport Begins Operations

Finally, the much-awaited Navi Mumbai International Airport began flight operations on Thursday, December 25. Hindustan Times reports that the first scheduled departure was an early morning flight to Hyderabad. The airport, hailed as one of the most advanced, is designed to accommodate up to 90 million passengers annually.
