On Tuesday, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced the budget for the union territory with a total outlay of ₹1.03 lakh crore and stated that the national capital is progressing rapidly with government schemes. The key focus of the Delhi budget this year is on women-focused schemes. Read on for more information about the schemes.

Women-Focused Scheme In Delhi Budget 2026

As per a report by Business Today, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that around 1.30 lakh girl students studying in Class 9 will get free cycles, and approx ₹90 crore will be allocated for the scheme. She further announced that the budgetary expense of ₹260 crore has been set aside to provide two free LPG cylinders to every household during the Holi and Diwali festivals. Additionally, ₹406 crore is allocated for free travel for women on Delhi buses, and free permits will also be provided to 1,000 women to operate electric autos. The government will also provide employment opportunities to women.

According to the news portal, CM Rekha Gupta said that ₹7,406 crore has been allocated for the Department of Women and Child Development. The budget earmarked ₹5,110 crore for paying ₹2,500 per month to eligible women beneficiaries under the Mahila Samridhi Yojana by the Delhi government. The scheme provides ₹2,500 a month, specifically for divorced, widowed, and separated women.

More Key Schemes In Delhi Budget

Rekha Gupta described the budget as a “green budget” and said that the city is going through a transitional phase. The Delhi government allocated ₹200 crore for the EV policy to make the national capital pollution-free. She also highlighted a major push for dust-free roads, allocating ₹1,352 crore to facilitate the end-to-end recarpeting of 750 km across the city. Additionally, the budget also includes the extension of the Modi Mill flyover to the Kalkaji and Savitri Cinema intersection, with an estimated budget of ₹371 crore.

The chief minister highlighted that Delhi’s per capita income is the third highest in the country. 5,921 crore has been allocated for the Public Works Department, whereas urban development and shelter projects have been allocated ₹7,887 crore. The government is also focusing on function upgrades by investing ₹200 crore to remove overhead wiring.
