Delhi Metro To Run Extra Metro Trains Every Monday
Your commute across Delhi-NCR may get smoother and less crowded on Mondays, a day that usually sees heavy rush in the Delhi Metro. DMRC has now decided to run 24 additional Metro trips every Monday starting from May 18, 2026. The decision has been taken to promote public transport use in the city and reduce fuel consumption caused by private vehicles.
According to India Today, this move will encourage office-goers and other regular commuters to use the Delhi Metro instead of relying on private vehicles. Reportedly, officials have deployed six additional trains across different corridors to facilitate the 24 extra trips on Mondays. Moreover, more train services may soon be introduced depending on passenger demand in the coming weeks.

Arrangements Upgraded To Manage Crowd
According to India Today, the Delhi Metro has also upgraded arrangements at metro stations to manage the expected rise in footfall. Key stations now have additional security personnel, ticket counters, baggage scanners and frisking facilities to ensure smoother passenger movement, avoid long queues and minimise overcrowding.
