The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced that on Independence Day, metro services in the capital will run earlier than usual. On this day, the metro trains will start running at 4 AM from all terminal stations on the metro network. Read on to know more about this.
Delhi Metro Services To Begin Early On Independence Day

According to a Hindustan Times report, on August 15, DMRC will start metro services from 4 AM. It will run in 30-minute intervals from 4 to 6 AM and then return to its regular schedule. For the official announcement, DMRC took to its X account and wrote, “To facilitate the special guests, invitees, and general public to attend the Independence Day ceremony on Friday, 15th August 2025, the Delhi Metro will commence its services at 04:00 AM on all its Lines from all terminal stations.”
Adding more information in the X post, DMRC mentioned that people who have an official invitation from the Ministry of Defence will get ‘special QR tickets’ for travelling to and from the event. The closest metro stations for the Independence Day ceremony are Lal Quila, Jama Masjid, and Delhi Gate. “The cost towards such travel will be reimbursed to DMRC by the Ministry of Defence,” the post read.

Metro Line For Event At Red Fort
If you are planning to attend the Independence Day celebration event at the Red Fort, then you can visit the destination via metro. Hindustan Times reported that to reach the Red Fort, you can take the metro from your nearest metro station to Lal Quila. The station is on the Violet Line of the Delhi Metro network. To ensure safety, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has already started conducting strong security checks across metro stations.
If you’re attending the event, ensure that you have some extra time in hand. Security checks at stations might take some time.
