Metro connectivity in major cities is improving rapidly, especially around airports. Now, Delhi is set to take another step forward with a new metro station coming up on the Golden Line at the airport. This metro station will connect Terminal 1 (T1) with Terminal 3 (T3). A senior official confirmed that the upcoming metro link will make travel between the terminals faster and more convenient for passengers. Scroll down to know more about this metro project.
Golden Line Metro Station At Delhi Airport
At the Delhi Airport, while Terminals 2 and 3 are close to each other, Terminal 1 is a few kilometres away. This makes it difficult for the passengers to move from one terminal to another. On this, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) CEO Videh Kumar Jaipuriar said the upcoming integrated metro station will directly link Aerocity to Terminal 1.
In talks with Times Now, Jaipuriar said that the Golden Line was initially planned to end at Aerocity, but DIAL requested the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to extend it up to Terminal 1. He added that this extension will allow passengers to travel from Terminal 1 to Aerocity, and from there, continue to Terminal 3 using the existing airport line.

Metro Link Between The Two Terminals
Currently, the Airport Express Line connects to Terminal 3, while the Magenta Line connects to Terminal 1. However, there is no direct metro link between the two terminals. The new Golden Line extension will close this gap and improve overall airport connectivity. The Golden Line, also known as the Tughlakabad–Aerocity corridor, is part of Phase IV of the Delhi Metro expansion project. Construction on this corridor is already underway. Once completed, it will not only link key parts of South Delhi but also improve airport accessibility.
As per Times Now reports, Jaipuriar mentioned that Aerocity is set to become a major transport hub in the coming years. The new metro station will be part of an integrated setup that connects several transport systems in one place. He explained that the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) will also have a stop at Aerocity. Furthermore, one of the Automated People Mover (APM) stations is planned to be located there. This integration aims to create a multi-modal hub, allowing passengers to switch easily between the city metro, airport line, and other transport modes in the city.
