On Wednesday, an Air India Express flight from Delhi to Mumbai aborted take off due to a technical glitch. According to the airline, the crew decided against proceeding with the take off and prioritised safety after detecting a minor technical issue on the aircraft. Here’s all you need to know about it.

Mumbai-Bound Air India Express Flight Aborts Take Off From Delhi

According to NDTV, the Mumbai-bound Air India Express plane had 160 passengers onboard when the pilot decided to abort take off from the Delhi Airport. Reports suggest that the pilot detected a glitch with the screens displaying the speed parameters in the cockpit and decided against taking off.

In a statement, the Air India Express spokesperson said, “We regret the inconvenience while reiterating that safety remains paramount in all our operations.”

All the passengers were safely disembarked after the technical snag was detected. They were all later accommodated in an alternative aircraft, which departed for Mumbai.

Similar Incident A Few Days Ago

On July 21, a Delhi-Kolkata Air India flight also aborted take off due to a technical issue. Reports suggest that the aircraft was accelerating down the runway when the issue was detected, and the pilots applied brakes to stop the aircraft. The flight was travelling at 155 kmph at that moment.

The pilots followed a “Standard Operating Procedure” and decided not to go ahead with the take off. The airline rescheduled the flight and safely deplaned all passengers. Air India spokesperson said that the airline prioritised the safety and well-being of the passengers and regretted the inconvenience caused.

On the same day in Mumbai, another Air India flight arriving from Kochi had a close call while landing, as it veered off the rain-soaked runway.

Keeping all the recent aviation incidents in mind, airlines are now being more cautious. While passenger safety was always prioritised, flight crews are being even more vigilant than before.
