Delhi Rain Alert: IndiGo Warns Flyers Of Flight Delays As Waterlogging Hits Airport Roads

Heavy rainfall can often disrupt traffic, leaving commuters stranded for hours on waterlogged roads. This is exactly the situation in Delhi right now. Due to continuous showers, the IMD has issued a red alert for several areas, while IndiGo has issued a travel advisory for passengers. Read on to know more! 

IndiGo Issues Advisory Amid Delhi Rain

Right now, Delhi is drowning in continuous rainfall across many parts of the capital. The situation has disrupted travel around Indira Gandhi International Airport. Due to waterlogging near the airport, several flights faced delays and cancellations on Friday, with disruptions continuing on Saturday.

Amid the heavy rainfall, IndiGo issued a travel advisory for passengers on Saturday. In the advisory, the airline mentioned that the bad weather was affecting flight operations in Delhi. The airline is continuously working to minimise disruptions but has asked travellers to keep checking its website and app for the latest updates.

Red Alert Issued In Delhi

As rainfall continues in Delhi, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for many parts of Delhi, while Delhi-NCR is under an orange alert. As per Hindustan Times, Geeta Colony and Akbar Road saw waterlogging due to the rain. In Connaught Place, rainwater filled parts of the Outer Circle. Authorities used pumps to drain the water, while some nearby shops were at risk of getting flooded.

Despite the disruption, the rain brought some relief from the heat, with Delhi’s minimum temperature dropping to 24.8°C. It was 3.4°C lower than the previous day. The IMD said Safdarjung recorded 0.7 mm of rain overnight, followed by another 1.3 mm between 5:30 AM and 8:30 AM on Saturday.
