Delhi’s air quality has remained in the ‘poor’ category, crossing 300 on the AQI scale over the past few days. The smog is getting worse, and the air is undoubtedly polluted. Recently, an Indian man shared a video showing the stark difference between the air quality and visibility of Delhi and Vienna. The viral clip has now sparked discussions online. Here’s more on this.

Thanks to strict environmental regulations, Vienna, Austria, is known for its excellent air quality. On the other hand, Delhi is struggling with rising AQI levels, thick smog, and low visibility. An Indian man settled in Vienna has now made the difference between the two cities even more visible.
Lakshay Arora, who goes by the username @indian.in.austria, recently shared a video on his Instagram account. The clip was captioned, “Difference in air quality captured from plane.” It featured two videos taken from a plane; one of Vienna showing clear blue skies and excellent visibility, and another of Delhi, where the smog was so dense that even the tallest buildings were barely visible.
Lakshay further wrote, “What my phone captured when I was travelling in a plane from Vienna, Austria to Delhi, India, felt like travelling from 8K resolution to the blurred 90’s camera quality due to high pollution during winter months due to various reasons. He highlighted how pollution has changed the view of Delhi from above.
Netizens React To The Viral Video
The video has now crossed over four million views and sparked mixed reactions online. One user commented, “Nobody is responsible except people themselves,” while another said, “The first step towards change is acceptance and accountability,” pointing out that citizens themselves must take responsibility for the rising pollution levels.
While many were shocked by the stark contrast between Delhi and Vienna’s air quality, others criticised the comparison, saying both cities are poles apart. One user wrote, “Compare two equal things. Then we will understand the difference. Like hills area to hills area, urban to urban.” Another added, “Bros literally comparing a mountain with the world’s most populated city.” This user pointed out that Vienna is known for being closer to the Alps, while Delhi is a densely populated urban city, and the comparison is not justified.
