SZA

“Can I get a Shiva Shambhu?”—this line has taken over everyone’s feed because SZA attending the Maha Shivratri celebrations at Isha Foundation in Tamil Nadu wasn’t something anyone had on their 2026 bingo card! But did you know this wasn’t her first visit to the Isha Yoga Centre in Coimbatore? Back in January 2025, the Grammy-winning singer had taken a spiritual retreat there and even participated in the intensive Samyama programme. Here’s more about it.

SZA Takes Part In Maha Shivratri Celebration

Sadhguru’s Isha Yoga Centre’s Maha Shivratri celebration was a star-studded affair. From Tamannaah Bhatia and KGF star Srinidhi Shetty to Mouni Roy and Sara Arjun, the celebration was attended by many big names. Between this, SZA’s surprise entry left everyone stunned!

The Grammy winner attended the event with her mother, dressed in a saree, and immersed herself in the night-long celebration, dancing and chanting with the crowd. “Namaskaram. Happy Mahashivratri. Can I get a Shiv Shambhu?” she said, before leading chants of “Shiv Shambhu.” She also thanked Sadhguru for the invitation and was seen fully embracing the spiritual energy of the evening.

Throwback To Her First Visit To Isha Yoga Centre In Coimbatore

Back in January 2025, SZA participated in Isha Foundation’s Samyama programme, which is also considered one of the centre’s most intensive experiences. Why? Well, because participants have to take up strict practice with no phones, mirrors, or eye contact for over eight days, which she described as both profound and transformative.

She shared a series of pictures from her visit, which she took before and after the programme, calling her experience “profound and chaotic and beautiful”. In an Instagram post, she thanked the foundation’s volunteers and leaders for supporting her and her mother during the retreat, and spoke about how the journey deeply impacted her spiritually, contributing to her personal growth and understanding.

While she was there last year, she also enjoyed some traditional and simple Indian food, did yoga, and offered prayers at the temple in the ashram.
