After the fire incident at Dilli Haat, the cultural hub was reopened on May 16, 2025, following some structural repair work. Now, the government is focusing on some long-term upgrades. For this, teams are already working on fixing civil structures, electrical systems, and improving CCTV surveillance. In talks with Hindustan Times, a senior DTTDC official has stated that upgrading CCTV surveillance is important. Furthermore, they plan to integrate old security cameras with new ones to ensure there are no blind spots.

The plan to upgrade CCTV surveillance is still in the tender process. But DTTDC has said they will make sure that each corner of the market has proper security, especially around the shopping areas. They will also add public announcement systems for emergency purposes.

Many vendors, who lost their stalls in the fire incident, are happy with the development. As per a Hindustan Times report, one jewellery vendor has mentioned that the market needed better security, and now, finally, things are moving in the right direction.

Estimated Budget For Repairs

Many contractors submitted the tender for the repair work in May. The estimated budget for civil repairs is over ₹40 lakh, while electrical repairs are projected to cost ₹9 lakh. It includes changing everything from old wiring, switchboards, to other electrical repairs.

According to a Hindustan Times report, the official further mentioned that Dilli Haat is a public space, so they have to make sure it has better facilities for the visitors.

Dilli Haat is located in the INA area of South Delhi. It is an open market where talented artisans and craftsmen from across India showcase their work. Vendors at this market sell various items from different regions and are especially crowded during festivals.
