Durga Puja celebrations are in full swing across different parts of India. Organisers have unveiled some amazing pandals this year with unique themes and grand setups. But the pandal by the Bishnupur Sarbajanin Durga Puja Committee in Guwahati will blow your mind, as it offers a water-based floating experience for devotees coming to offer prayers to Maa Durga.

Guwahati Gets A Floating Durga Puja Pandal

Instead of walking into a pandal like usual, visitors must take a boat ride across the water to reach the idol of Goddess Durga and seek her blessings at this floating pandal in Guwahati, Assam. The entire Durga Puja pandal by the Bishnupur Sarbajanin Durga Puja Committee revolves around the ā€œNaglokā€ theme, which is considered the mythical kingdom of snakes. A video uploaded by an Instagram user, @_nilanjana_thakuria_, shows what the pandal looks like from the inside, along with devotees riding boats to reach the idol of Durga Maa.Ā

Surprisingly, it is Guwahati’s first water-based pandal, and videos of people riding in boats are going viral online. The experience would definitely make you feel like you are stepping into a mythical world over water. General entry to visit the pandal is free and open to the public. But you can also pay ₹199 for VIP entry to bypass the huge crowds at the pandal. Tickets are also available on BookMyShow.

Expect Long Queues At This Unique Pandal

The Bishnupur Durga Puja Committee shared on its Instagram account that, due to the large number of devotees visiting the pandal, people should expect to wait two to three hours or more in the general queue for free entry. So, if you are in Guwahati and planning to visit, make sure to plan your visit early to avoid peak crowds.

It is the first time a pandal in the city has combined water transport with religious rituals, making the whole experience adventurous. It is definitely a new way to experience the Durga Puja festival. Every year, many pandals in India go viral for being unique, and we think this floating pandal could be one of them in 2026.
