Phase 2 Of Jaipur Metro Approved
Taking to his X handle, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that Phase-2 of the Jaipur Metro has been approved. This exciting project will be a 41 km stretch. It will run from Prahladpura in the north to Todi Mod in the south. This phase will feature 36 stations to make travelling across the city faster and more convenient for residents and visitors. The budget for this Phase-2 project is ₹13,037.66 crore.
The project will be implemented by Rajasthan Metro Rail Corporation Limited (RMRCL), a 50:50 partnership between the Central and Rajasthan governments. It will connect key areas in Jaipur like Sitapura Industrial Area, Jaipur Airport, VKIA, Tonk Road, SMS Hospital, Ambabari, and Vidhyadhar Nagar. So, get ready for a quick and comforting travel experience in the city.

How Many Passengers Use Jaipur Metro Phase-1?
Phase-1 of Jaipur Metro is already operating. It stretches 11.64 km from Mansarovar to Badi Chaupar and currently carries about 60,000 passengers daily. With the addition of the upcoming phase, the metro is expected to attract many more riders. It will also result in a decrease in private vehicles and easing road congestion.
The Jaipur Metro Phase-2 project has passed several expert reviews, highlighting how it will benefit the city. Along with giving travel options to riders, experts expect it to bring good economic returns, with an Economic Internal Rate of Return (EIRR) of over 14%. Funding will come from a mix of contributions from the Central and Rajasthan governments, loans, and support from international financial institutions, all following the Metro Rail Policy of 2017. Construction is expected to be completed by September 2031.
