Houses Collapse In Thane Due To Heavy Rain
A video going viral on social media shows a shocking incident in Thane, where five to six houses collapsed one after another. The incident occurred on Sunday, July 27. As per Free Press Journal, officials stated that the collapse began from the base of the structures. After the lower part of the houses collapsed, the rest of the houses crumbled, triggering panic among the residents. This situation arose because of heavy rain in this area over the last few days.
The local authorities were closely monitoring the area. As soon as they noticed that the rain had weakened the structure, they immediately evacuated the residents. Therefore, there are no reports of injuries. This quick action by the authorities is appreciated as it prevented serious injuries and potential loss of life.

After this tragic incident in Thane, the authorities for now has sealed the area and have checked nearly all locations for any more signs of damages. The viral video from Thane has raise concerns over urban housing safety. Officials are now requesting people to cooperate in evacuation.
55-Year-Old Man Killed In House Collapse Incident
Media reports suggest that in another incident, a 55-year-old man in Alyani village of the Shahapur area in Thane district died after being trapped when his house collapsed. The incident occurred on July 26, the man, identified Dunda Malhrai Nimse, was found trapped under debris. Police officials have reported this case as an accidental death.
Both these cases in Maharashtra occurred over the last two days, raising a panic situation among the residents. For now, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has not issued any notice of high alert in Mumbai or nearby areas, but light and moderate rain is expected to continue in various parts of the state.
This is not the first time Maharashtra has faced such issues; heavy rainfalls have always been a problem, leading to several serious situation across the state. We hope that the weather improves in the state soon and normalcy is restored.
