₹70 For Mango? Woman Claims Mumbai’s Sanjay Gandhi National Park Has Overpriced Fruits

A woman has recently sparked a debate online around tourists being overcharged at the Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Mumbai. The discussion started after she complained that vendors inside the national park were selling fruits at exceptionally high prices. Here’s what happened.

Overcharging At Mumbai’s Sanjay Gandhi National Park

Tourists being overcharged by businesses and local vendors is not something unheard of. But now, a recent incident at the Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Mumbai has once again reignited the conversation around this topic. Let us tell you what happened. According to an X post by @rutu609, a woman was exploring the national park when she came across a fruit vendor selling fruits at high prices.

A mango was being sold for ₹70 each, a guava for ₹30 each and a cucumber for ₹20 each. She wrote, “This is what we get while travelling. Tourist prices are on another level.” And honestly, the prices are truly on another level. A consumer does not pay ₹70 for one mango in regular markets. This meant that vendors inside the national park were selling fruits at premium prices, just because the place is popular and people are likely to feel hungry inside.

Social Media Users React To The Post

The post quickly gained traction, and many social media users complained about similar experiences. One user wrote, “We will get 1 kg of cucumber for ₹30.” Another user made a similar comment and wrote, “Too expensive.” A third user made a funny comment that said, “₹70 for one mango? Hope it comes with lifetime memories.”

Many users even mentioned that tourists will be forced to buy fruits at high prices because there are no other vendors at the location. One user pointed out that this is just a business to scam people.
