Living alone in Gurgaon comes with many benefits, especially for professionals. The region offers amazing career opportunities along with a lifestyle that feels opulent. And not to forget, the sense of freedom and independence it brings. But while the benefits are plenty, challenges exist, too. A recent Reddit post is going viral, where a user highlights seven challenges of living alone in Gurgaon. He calls his experience a “reality show just without prize money.” Here’s why.

One in every two young professionals has dreamt of living alone, especially in a place like Gurgaon, which offers a fast-paced lifestyle and abundant career opportunities. But the experience is not as smooth as a walk in the park. One Reddit user (@u/Odd-Asparagus-2174) listed several challenges he faces while living alone. According to him, “every day feels like a challenge episode.”
He begins with his first dilemma: waking up before his neighbour’s pressure cooker explodes, which happens daily. He also highlights traffic near HUDA, where auto rickshaws seem ready to hit you anytime. Skyrocketing rents are another major challenge. Sarcastically, he adds that he is convinced the buildings have invisible helipads, which he doesn’t get to use.

Loneliness, Work, And Weekends
The rant doesn’t end there. The Redditor talks about loneliness at home and ordering the same food on Zomato repeatedly. Surviving a Gurgaon office is another challenge. Though he gets free coffee and AC, he also gets “free trauma and unlimited existential crisis.” Using lifts feels like a challenge, too. He writes, “My lift stops at every floor except mine. I think it hates me personally.” Even weekends bring no relief. While everyone enjoys Cyberhub “holding hands” with their partners, he stays in his room with a plate of Maggi.
He concludes his long rant about living alone in Gurgaon: “Anyway, shoutout to all Gurgaon people who are single, tired, and keeping their sanity alive using memes, Maggi, and mild delusion. We’re basically a community at this point.”
Netizens were amused by his rant. One user wrote, “Loneliness is something you have to deal with in Gurgaon, and I have accepted the fact,” while another added, “Netflix and Maggi are the essentials to conquer this city.”
