Why Is Nilambar Route Not Getting More Coaches?

As per the Onmanorama report, several requests were made to the Railways Minister to add more coaches on the Shoranur–Nilambur route in Kerala. They have requested two more reserved second sitting coaches on this route as it always sees heavy rush. As per the report, due to the short platforms in stations on the Nilambur route, it won’t be possible for the Railway authorities to increase the coach count. Moreover, authorities from the Thiruvananthapuram division have stated that they will add more coaches to the Rajyarani Express, if stations are extended. With 10 additional coaches, the train can get over 720 berths, making it easier for passengers to get tickets and travel.

The railway division in Palakkad will decide whether to increase the station length on the Shoranur–Nilambur route. The Zonal Railways’ decision to add two coaches to eight trains will allow more passengers to travel.
