No matter how beautiful or popular a destination may seem, women travellers always have to weigh safety before planning a trip—that’s the unfortunate reality. Recently, a travel content creator shared her safety ratings of countries she visited solo, sparking quite a conversation online.

Creator Rates Countries Based On Safety For Solo Women Traveller

Travel content creator Tanwi Dixit recently shared a post rating how safe she felt as a solo traveller in different countries. With her personal experiences, she rates each country out of 10 and mentioned how solo women travellers have to consider a lot of factors to ensure safety.

In the post’s caption, she added, “HONEST OPINIONS about how safe I felt as a solo female backpacker in some countries I’ve been to! As a solo female traveller there are so many things you need to take into consideration especially when it comes to ensuring safety. Travelling in local buses/trains, staying at hostels, partying at nightclubs; everything needs to be looked at from a ‘Safety First’ perspective. This rating is purely based on my experiences and if you’ve had different experiences/disagree with me, let me know in the comments! Would love to discuss!”

Vietnam emerged top on Tanwi’s list and she felt the safest there, giving it a 9/10 on the safety scale as a female solo traveller. She mentioned she spent a couple of months there and never felt unsafe. She next rated Bhutan a 8/10, saying the country is peaceful and safe for both men and women.

Indonesia was a bit of a mix bag for her, giving it a 3/10. She mentioned that while Bali felt safe, she had some “pretty bad experiences with men in Java.” Surprisingly, she rated Italy a 6/10. According to her, Rome especially felt “unsafe and sketchy.”

For her, Thailand was amazing and she rated it 9/10 for solo female traveller safety. “Every corner of Thailand felt super safe and I was at my relaxed best here,” she said. Next up, she rated Cambodia and Nepal a 6/10 and 7/10, respectively.
