Good News! North & South Bengaluru To Get Lalbagh-Style Botanical Parks

There’s some exciting news for Bengalureans. A Lalbagh-style park will soon come up in North Bengaluru. A similar park is also being planned for South Bengaluru. The announcement was made during the inauguration of the 219th Lalbagh Flower Show, held as part of Republic Day celebrations. Here’s what we know so far.

Lalbagh-Style Parks Coming Soon In North & South Bengaluru

According to a report by Bangalore Mirror, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar made the announcement on Wednesday. He said the state cabinet has decided to develop a Lalbagh-style botanical garden in North Bengaluru. The park will come up on Forest Department land and will be named after Basavanna. Not just that. Authorities are also considering a similar park in South Bengaluru.

This is certainly great news. Lalbagh Park in Bengaluru is known for its botanical diversity, the iconic Glass House, and its historical importance. It is one of the city’s major attractions. It is beautiful, peaceful, and loved by locals and tourists alike. With two more such parks coming up, Bengalureans are clearly excited.

Announcement Made During Lalbagh Flower Show

The announcement was made during the inauguration of the 219th Republic Day Flower Show at Lalbagh. Shivakumar told Deccan Herald that Bengaluru needs more green spaces as its population has grown significantly. He shared that authorities are opening the Vishwaguru Basavanna Biological Park in the north. In the south, another garden similar to Lalbagh will be developed.

According to a report by Oneindia, the GBA and the city corporation will financially back the project and provide assistance. Authorities have already started visiting city parks and consulting residents. Several development works have been instructed as well. Furthermore, Karnataka is also exporting flowers and vegetables every week, with efforts underway to set up international-standard flower and vegetable markets across the state.

Bengaluru is internationally known as the ‘Garden City’. The city is now set to get two more major parks in the north and south. Are you excited? We surely are. These new parks are expected to be just as beautiful as Lalbagh.
