Roads Shut In Himachal Pradesh
Due to heavy snowfall, over 1,250 roads have been closed in Himachal Pradesh. This has disrupted travel across the state. However, tourists continue to visit popular snow-covered destinations to enjoy the winter atmosphere. In talks with NDTV, many travellers said they had to extend their stay due to heavy snowfall. They also said it was difficult to find drinking water and tea.
PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh said the state government is working at full speed to restore road connectivity. As per NDTV, around 3,500 machines are currently deployed across Himachal Pradesh, and the government will arrange more if needed. The minister added that further snowfall will help refill water sources and maintain soil moisture, which is important for orchards and crops.
Singh also said the department is actively helping stranded tourists. He added that officials are coordinating closely with district administrations, including SPs and DCs, to ensure safety and convenience. While some problems are unavoidable due to the weather, he assured that roads will be reopened at the earliest.
