Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Introduces Pet Boxes For Furry Friends
Travelling with pets has become very common in recent days. Instead of leaving furry friends behind, people are now opting to take their pets along on their journey. Considering this, the Vande Bharat Sleeper train has introduced a pet booking facility. According to India Today, this dedicated service offers a safe and enclosed space for pets. These boxes are located at both ends of the train near the locomotive.
However, passengers should know that this facility cannot be booked online. You can book a pet box at railway stations. The process is simple. To use this facility, a passenger has to visit the parcel or luggage office at their departure station. An official there will book a pet box for your dog or cat. Make sure you complete the booking process at least three hours before the train’s scheduled departure time to avoid delays.

Documents, Cost & Other Rules You Need To Know
According to India Today, to book a pet box on the Vande Bharat Sleeper train, a passenger must have a confirmed ticket. RAC or waitlisted tickets are not accepted for this service. Moreover, passengers have to submit documents like a recent veterinary fitness certificate (issued within 24-48 hours of travel) and valid vaccination records for the pet.
The cost of the pet box is based on the weight of the animal. Charges are calculated at around ₹30 per kg. After payment, passengers receive a luggage ticket as confirmation of the booking. Keep in mind that pets will be kept in a fixed metal enclosure located at both ends of the train rake. They will not be allowed inside passenger cabins.
According to India Today, charges for booking the pet box are non-refundable, and only one pet is allowed per PNR. So, advance booking is advised. The service may not be available on all routes, so passengers should confirm availability for their train and route before arriving.
