India is currently experiencing heavy snowfall in certain regions. Jammu and Kashmir, along with Shimla and Manali in Himachal Pradesh, have turned into a white winter wonderland straight out of a fairytale. Fresh Snowfall In Several Regions In India
A sudden cold wave has gripped Himachal Pradesh. Residents of Shimla and Manali woke up to fresh snowfall on Friday morning. According to a report by The Economic Times, heavy rainfall has been predicted by the Shimla Meteorological Centre for January 23. An orange alert is currently in place for three districts in Himachal Pradesh, while nine districts are under a yellow alert. Reportedly, Tabo village in the Lahaul and Spiti district was the coldest in the state, recording a minimum temperature of -8.7 °C. The temperature in Manali is also expected to drop further. An X user, @jaggirm, posted the images and wrote, “Seasons 1st significant snowfall in Shimla,
Manali, Dalhousie.”
Not just Himachal Pradesh, Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir was also fully covered in snow. The region received heavy snowfall on Thursday along with high-speed winds, making the weather feel much colder. While the pictures circulating on social media look stunning, the snowfall has led to traffic disruptions on key routes, including the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. Snowfall across the Kashmir Valley on Friday also disrupted flight operations at Srinagar airport. An X user, @Mystveil7, posted beautiful images of snowfall in Kashmir.
According to Greater Kashmir, Srinagar recorded a low of -3.4°C on Thursday. South Kashmir saw a sharper dip, with Pulwama recording -5.8 °C and Anantnag -5.3 °C.

Delhi Wakes Up To Rain And Thunderstorms
Despite the harsh cold, the snowfall has brought joy to residents of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. Many people stepped out to capture images and videos of the fresh snow. Reportedly, a long dry spell has also been broken in the Kashmir Valley. The changing weather was not limited to the hills. Residents of Delhi woke up to moderate rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning on Friday.
According to a report by NDTV, cloudy conditions are expected to continue through the day. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange warning at 4:50 am. Furthermore, several parts of Delhi are expected to witness spells of rain along with moderate thunderstorms. These areas include Narela, Bawana, Alipur, Rohini, Punjabi Bagh, Rajouri Garden, Mundka, and Paschim Vihar. The rainfall is expected to make Delhi feel colder today.
