Commuters on the Eastern Express Highway recently, may have noticed a beautiful change. A long stretch near Vikhroli is filled with bright pink flowers, giving this usually busy road a calm and scenic feel. These trees are called Tabebuia heterophylla, also known as pink trumpet trees, and they closely resemble Japan’s famous cherry blossoms.

To enjoy this pink view, the Vikhroli stretch on the Eastern Express Highway is the best place to start. However, these flowering trees are not limited to just one area. As per News18, they appear near Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, along the Borivali–Gorai Road, and opposite Lion Gate in Fort. The flowers are also visible around the Bombay Stock Exchange, Rani Baug, and Mahim Nature Park, turning these familiar areas into scenic seasonal highlights.

One user wrote, “Amid Mumbai’s noise, traffic, and pollution, a small oasis of beauty blooms in Vikhroli, Mumbai.”
Another netizen couldn’t believe it and asked, “Is it for real?”
These trees grow quickly and shed their leaves for a short period. When fully grown, they usually reach a height of about 25 to 30 feet. City authorities often plant them because they are easy to maintain and require very little water.
If you’re in Mumbai, don’t miss this stunning sight in the city. Honestly, it feels illegal to skip it!
