In Pics: Rainbow Clouds Seen In Ladakh As Sky Turns Into A Rare Dreamy Painting

Have you ever seen a rainbow cloud? Also called iridescent clouds, they are a rare and colourful optical show in the sky that looks as if someone has painted the sky in pastel or oil colours. A woman was lucky enough to witness beautiful rainbow clouds in Ladakh and shared pictures on social media.

Rare Rainbow Clouds Appear In Ladakh

Rainbow clouds, or cloud iridescence, are considered very rare, and you need perfect conditions for them to appear in the sky. This is why anyone who gets to see them in real life is very lucky. Prerna Dalal (@forever_a_wildsoul), a yoga teacher in Ladakh, spotted them while driving and was pleasantly surprised. She uploaded a series of pictures on Instagram to share with her followers.

It looks really beautiful, right? It usually happens when sunlight diffracts through tiny water droplets or ice crystals in clouds, creating rainbow-like colours in the sky. Honestly, the picture looks as if someone has painted the sky in pastel colours. These rainbow clouds do not easily appear everywhere. Since Ladakh is known for its clean air and high altitude, it is a good place to see them.

Sky Or A Painting From A Museum?

In another picture, the sky looks like a painting from a museum. The photos show smooth, glowing shades of pink, green, blue and violet blending into each other and looking like a dream. It looks as if there is also a little bit of shimmer in those clouds, right? You would be surprised to know that the colours in those clouds keep shifting as the sunlight moves. Seeing them above the clouds or mountain peaks definitely looks magical. 

Prerna Dalal also reflected on how the world is so much bigger than our little bubble, and she was amazed to see those clouds appear. Many netizens called the pictures beautiful and even thought they were AI-generated because they looked so unreal! But no, they are very much real.
