Ahead of the fifth T20 International against New Zealand on Saturday, the Indian cricket team offered prayers at Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, one of the 108 Divya Desams dedicated to Lord Vishnu. India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav, along with Axar Patel, Rinku Singh, Varun Chakravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravi Bishnoi, sought blessings at the temple.
The Indian cricket team was dressed in traditional vesti and angavastram, the local version of a dhoti and shawl, in white, in keeping with the strict dress code followed at the Padmanabhaswamy Temple. Women devotees are required to wear a sari while visiting the temple.

World’s Richest Temple & One Of The 108 Divya Desams
Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple is widely regarded as the richest temple in the world. Several reports suggest that its vaults house immense hidden treasures, including gold, diamonds, precious stones, and priceless artefacts. The temple is also one of the 108 Divya Desams, considered among the most sacred abodes of Lord Vishnu.
The presiding deity, Padmanabhaswamy, is a form of Lord Vishnu enshrined in the Anantashayana posture, reclining in eternal yogic sleep on his serpent mount, Shesha. The idol is carved from around 12,000 Shaligram stones. Interestingly, the size of the main idol appears to change depending on the viewer’s position. Devotees also believe that the idol emits an ethereal glow, thanks to its unique construction and divine energy.
