India’s First Cheetah Safari Begins At MP’s Kuno National Park; Online Booking, Cost & Details Inside

Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh is a rare jungle nestled in the Vindhya Hills. What makes it rare is that it was the site chosen for the reintroduction of cheetahs to India. The national park has now opened its doors for tourists for cheetah safaris from October 1. Here are all the details you should know.

Cheetah Safari in India: A Once-In-A-Lifetime Experience

Did you know that Kuno National Park in Sheopur, MP, is the only place in India where you can experience a cheetah safari? Yes, you read that right. Tiger safaris are common, but cheetah safaris are not in India. After a successful reintroduction programme, this national park is now home to an exclusive cheetah population.

As per a report by The Free Press Journal, visitors will get the chance to see the world’s fastest animal in the wild. Reportedly, 16 cheetahs currently roam freely in the park’s open forest. The tourism department is also planning a ‘Kuno Retreat’ with stay and dining facilities for tourists who want to comfortably experience the cheetah safari in India.

This Safari At Kuno National Park Starts From October 1

Uttam Kumar Sharma, CCF and Field Director of Kuno Park, shared with The Free Press Journal that all preparations are complete. Visitors can now enjoy the cheetah safari starting from October 1. Apart from the majestic cheetah, you can also spot other wildlife species as part of this adventure.

Visitors can book safaris online. The prices are:

  • ₹4,500 for six people with a gypsy ride
  • ₹1,200 for people bringing their own vehicle

Entry is allowed through Ahira Gate and Peepalwadi Gate. This is the same area where the cheetahs were first released.

To book cheetah safaris at Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh, follow these steps:

  1. Head to kunocheetahjunglesafari.com
  2. Go to the booking section
  3. Select your preferred dates and safari type
  4. Make your payment online

Do’s And Don’ts Of The Safari

To ensure you have a safe safari experience devoid of disturbances to the cheetahs, Kuno National Park has set some strict rules:

Do’s

  • Wait if cheetahs are crossing the road; do not interfere
  • Carry drinking water during the safari
  • Inform the nearest forest officer if you see any suspicious activity
  • Wear light-coloured clothes to blend with nature
  • Keep vehicle speed within the limit of 20 km/h

Don’ts

  • Don’t litter the park with cans, bottles, or plastic; dispose of waste outside the park
  • Don’t carry or play music gadgets like tape recorders or transistors
  • Don’t get out of the vehicle unless instructed by the guide
  • Don’t disturb or tease the animals
