Rain is enjoyable only until it starts causing trouble. Every year, heavy rainfall triggers disasters in hilly regions, damaging roads and cutting off access to several areas. Arunachal Pradesh recently witnessed a similar situation after flash floods hit parts of the state, including the Keyi Panyor district, India’s 1st Bio-Happy District. Read on to know what happened.
Heavy Rains Trigger Flash Floods In Keyi Panyor
On Wednesday, heavy rainfall triggered flash floods and landslides in parts of Keyi Panyor district. As per ANI, in this disastrous situation, one person died and four others remain missing in the Yachuli area of the district. Rescue teams have been searching for the missing people, but poor weather conditions continue to hamper operations.
As the situation worsened, the Arunachal Pradesh government began working closely with the Indian Air Force (IAF) and arranged air support to speed up rescue operations.
According to the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), the state’s Department of Civil Aviation quickly sprang into action as soon as it received information about the flash floods in the Poosa area. After a request from the Deputy Commissioner of Keyi Panyor district, the Department of Civil Aviation contacted the Eastern Air Command (EAC) in Shillong for air support. Despite bad weather, the air team successfully delivered rescue personnel and equipment. Authorities are planning for more air support missions for ongoing relief work.

India’s 1st Bio-Happy District
Keyi Panyor in Arunachal Pradesh has created history by becoming India’s first Bio-Happy District. The Usthadian reported that the idea is simple: protect nature while helping people live better lives. Instead of choosing between development and the environment, the district wants to show that both can grow together.
The Bio-Happy District concept is based on the vision of renowned agricultural scientist M. S. Swaminathan. This concept plays a crucial role in encouraging traditional farming, local knowledge, and care for the environment. This place is now being seen as a unique model for sustainable and people-friendly development.
We hope the situation calms down soon!
