As per the booking data from Scapia, it highlights a double-digit growth in nearly every Indian city, in every mode and category. IPL 2026, which started on March 28th, completed its first week of the 2026 season and didn’t just fill the stadiums but also increased the rise in flight and hotel bookings across the country. Here are all the cities that witnessed a rise in hotel and travel bookings.

Indian Cities Witness Rise In Travel Bookings

1. Hyderabad Tops Flight Demand During IPL 2026

Surpassing big metro cities like Mumbai and Delhi, Hyderabad has seen a major shift in flight bookings. Hyderabad has quietly become the number-one choice of IPL 2026. Flights to Hyderabad have jumped 37% week-over-week. Hyderabad secured the first position in flight bookings, followed by Lucknow and Chandigarh.

2. India’s 2-Tier Cities Witness Major Flight Demand

Apart from the top metro cities, other top 2-tier cities that are IPL 2026 venues also saw a major shift in travel and flight bookings. Guwahati saw a 27% spike in flight bookings in the first week of the IPL, making it another non-metro stadium into an aviation demand generator.

3. Hyderabad Leads Hotel Bookings

Apart from the rise in flight bookings, Hyderabad is also witnessing a major spike in hotel bookings. The first week of IPL was a hit, and Hyderabad became one of the biggest markets this season. The next city to witnesses a big stay spike is Mumbai, and all thanks to the Mumbai Indians’ home matches.

4. Dharamshala Sees 6x Travel Demand Surge

As per the Scapia report, Dharamshala sees a 6x travel demand surge with hotel bookings increasing 6x week-over-week, driven by matches hosted by Punjab Kings. This hike highlights that IPL can unlock high-intent travel to niches, as scenic destinations like Dharamshala rarely see such spikes.

5. Jaipur Tops With Road Trip Demand

There are very limited flights to Jaipur, but other transportation, like bus bookings, is up by 83%. Fans of the Rajasthan Royals are choosing highways over flights, making it one of the easiest and most popular travel modes.
